Our Montessori Kindergarten Hangelsberg is the complement to our Free Montessori primary school Hangelsberg. It opened in 2005, as a result of inquiries from parents who were looking for a Montessori-oriented children day care center, especially for the younger siblings of children who were already attending the Montessori primary school.
The kindergarten, initially only intended for taking care of 3- to 6-year-old children, moved into rooms in the Montessori primary school. The advantage was clearly to easily implement the concept of early childhood education in connection with preparing the children for the Montessori primary school.
The demand was unbroken and the capacity of the kindergarten was quickly reached. The desire arose to also offer care taking of 1- to 3-year-old children.
The children’s home had to move just two years after it opened and found a suitable and independent location at the former country school located in close proximity to our Montessori primary school. It still remains a rather small daycare center with a capacity of 53 children. However, this ensures an individual supervision of the kids. All children can learn and grow here according to the principles of the Montessori pedagogy.
The children’s home also offers a wide range of other activities such as Self-determined learning (free work), sports, early musical education, arts as well as several projects in nature and a community day.
